Dr. Jessica Shatkin, PT, DPT

I believe that pleasure is a powerful antidote to pain.

Jessica is a pelvic physical therapist with a passion for nervous system healing.

After graduating with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Long Island University - Brooklyn, she began her career as a pelvic physical therapist, working and training at a pelvic specialty clinic in Denver, CO. There she found that her passion was working with folks that experienced pain with sex. She was inspired to begin studying trauma and how trauma shows up in the body’s holding patterns.

Jessica founded Recenter Pelvic Health & Wellness to offer a more holistic approach to pelvic care. She views pain and dysfunction through a nervous-system centered lens and weaves various other modalities into her work, including Tami Lynn Kent’s Holistic Pelvic Care (TM), Craniosacral therapy, guided visualizations, and somatic tools.

Her work is deeply informed by her personal journey with pelvic pain. When traditional pelvic physical therapy didn’t resolve her symptoms, she sought out alternative healing methods. In doing so, she learned the power of reclaiming her pleasure and deepening into relationship with her body on a whole new level.

My treatment philosophy comes from a reverence for the nervous system, which deeply informs whether we feel safe in our bodies.
